Ahem…

If that’s not enough to make people realize that they’re fucking idiots, how about the fact that if enough people are left unvaccinated and catch the disease they aren’t vaccinated against, the chances of the disease mutating into a new and potentially more dangerous strain are increased! And guess what??? No vaccines exist for those new super-strains! Every body would be at risk because “vaccines cause autism and my child is a special snowflake!”. Which reminds me, why would anyone rather have a dead kid than an autistic kid? People with autism can live highly functional and fulfilling lives. Dead people can’t.
Motherfucking measles infections have skyrocketed in the US and Canada because of morons who don’t vaccinate their kids. And guess what? A lot of new doctors have never seen a measles case in their life. This means that if your kid catches measles, then they may not be able to be diagnosed in time to save their life. If your sick kid gives measles to a baby that hasn’t been vaccinated, that baby is probably not gonna live. If someone with a compromised immune system catches measles off of your super important child, they’re gonna suffer and die.
All because you were too uneducated and arrogant to understand how your actions have consequences.
TLDR; Nothing pisses me off more than parents who think they’re more important than public health.

THIS.

So I’ve been seeing a lot of these super-aggressive, pro-vaccine posts recently and I finally decided to write a reply. My mum decided not to vaccinate any of her four children. I think we all (or at least definitely my older brother and I) had the majority of the baby ones, but none of us have had the MMR or most of the others. When my older brother was a baby, he received a vaccination while it was still in the early stages of use. I think this was either around the time of, or just after, the mad cow disease panic. It later turned out this vaccination was actually cultured on cow brains. Now, nobody can prove whether this had an affect on my brother or not. My mum believes that he was a fairly normal child up to that point, but throughout his childhood he suffered from severe psychological and emotional issues which he still has not recovered from. Because of this, my mother decided not to vaccinate the rest of us. Now, I don’t know whether his problems were caused by a vaccination or not, I don’t know whether my mum’s decision was right or not, and honest to god, faced with all the recent propaganda I do, almost daily, agonise about getting the shots I missed, and I know that whatever I decided my mother would support me. One thing, however, stops me every time. I don’t believe that any person should have any kind of medical procedure forced on them. This is my body, and my life, to do with what I will. Nobody should touch me without my consent. Nobody should put anything in this body that I don’t want there. You think everybody getting vaccinated will stop the mutation and evolution of diseases? Bollocks. Nature is forever evolving, and medical science must evolve with her. Now, I may decide tomorrow to go out and get vaccinated. I may stay a disease-ridden heathen for the rest of my life. Whatever I decide, it is my body and my choice. That is what my parents believed, and that is what I believe.
